Your roof in Witney

Your Witney roof needs its covering identified before replacement pieces are specified: Cotswold stone slates and thinner Welsh slate have different weights, fixings and repair requirements. Adam photographs the existing material. The Witney and Cogges appraisal records limestone roofs in diminishing courses, while Welsh slate particularly defines Newland's roofscape, making more than colour part of your material match.

Around Cogges, old agricultural buildings sit close to modern homes, with the Windrush dividing distinct parts of town. Adam considers your building's structure and historic character before proposing a manufactured tile in place of stone slate. You receive a specification that identifies the covering and supporting details, preserving the distinctions that matter to the repair.

Madley Park and the expanding western neighbourhoods add newer pitched roofs with more standardised components, where Adam checks your rooflight flashings, tile alignment and extension junctions. He also examines shaded gutters and valleys for leaf debris. Your property's age and immediate surroundings guide those checks, so the written repair plan addresses the roof above your home.

10/10
Highly recommend Adam and the team. There was a delay starting due to the constant rain, but Adam kept me updated throughout. Once work began they worked through blistering heat over four days to remove old decking and install a beautiful new patio. The team were polite, friendly and professional, and Adam kept me involved with ideas and suggestions to get the best results. The finished patio looks amazing and has completely transformed the garden. Excellent workmanship from starting to finish - would definitely use them again.

When estimating they were the only ones to actually inspect the roof! Provided photos and full explanation of the rework required to resolve the issue. Carried out the repair as planned, when planned with minimal disruption and no damage. HIGHLY RECOMMEND this business.

Cannot give anything other than a 10/10. Callback for job was quick, came out within an hr of calling. Did not try and over sell their services. Very informative about options available and not pushy at all.

Your roofing questions answered

Are stone slates and Welsh slates the same roofing material?

No. Cotswold stone slates are limestone, while Welsh roofing slate is a different geological material, split into thinner sheets. Their weights and fixing details differ. Witney contains both, so a repair begins by identifying the covering already present and matching its dimensions and laying pattern as well as its colour.

Can you inspect a roof in Cogges?

Yes. Cogges includes historic buildings and much later housing, so give Adam the property's age and type when enquiring. For an older stone building, photographs of the roof covering and chimney help prepare the visit. The inspection establishes whether the problem concerns individual units, leadwork, support or roof drainage.

Does a stone roof need all its slates replacing?

Not simply because it is old. The survey needs to distinguish damaged stone from failed pegs, nails or timber support. Sound units contribute to the roof's existing character and deserve assessment for reuse. Any replacement proposal also needs to account for the load, course pattern and applicable heritage requirements.

Why is there damp around my Witney rooflight?

Possible causes include a defective flashing kit, displaced neighbouring tiles, condensation and a problem with the rooflight itself. Note whether the damp appears during rain or cold mornings. The roof pitch and covering must suit the installed flashing arrangement. An inspection checks those details before recommending replacement of the window.
