Your roof in Great Missenden

Your Great Missenden roof's exposure changes with its position in the Misbourne valley or on the rising ground towards Frith Hill, South Heath and the higher Chiltern slopes. Adam checks the covering, fixings and exposed junctions together. A sheltered valley home and a house near the ridgeline receive inspections that account for those different wind conditions.

Traditional brick and flint buildings carry plain clay tiles and slate, while later detached houses add hipped roofs and substantial garages. Adam examines your hip bedding, slipped slates and chimney flashing to locate the fault. Nearby trees also bring leaves into valleys and gutters, so drainage forms part of the same investigation.

Stormshield's Spanish slate reroof in Great Missenden has before and installation photographs linked to the job record. You can follow the work through those images. Adam starts your specification with the covering already present and the detail needing repair, respecting the conservation area's historic roof shapes and materials in the proposed work.

Customer reviews on Checkatrade

10/10
Highly recommend Adam and the team. There was a delay starting due to the constant rain, but Adam kept me updated throughout. Once work began they worked through blistering heat over four days to remove old decking and install a beautiful new patio. The team were polite, friendly and professional, and Adam kept me involved with ideas and suggestions to get the best results. The finished patio looks amazing and has completely transformed the garden. Excellent workmanship from starting to finish - would definitely use them again.

Adam was great to communicate with, turned up when he said he would to quote. A storm delayed the start of work, but we were kept informed. Roof cleaned, gutters facia and soffits replaced, solar panels pigeon proofed.

Cannot give anything other than a 10/10. Callback for job was quick, came out within an hr of calling. Did not try and over sell their services. Very informative about options available and not pushy at all.

Your roofing questions answered

Have you fitted a slate roof in Great Missenden?

Yes. Stormshield's job record identifies a Great Missenden reroof using Spanish slate, supported by before and installation photographs. Those pictures show the original roof and the replacement progressing. For your house, Adam checks the pitch, support and existing details before explaining a suitable slate repair or replacement in writing.

Does a house on higher Chiltern ground need different roof fixings?

Exposure is part of the fixing design, together with roof pitch, height, shape and the chosen covering. A house facing open ground needs that setting considered rather than borrowing a specification from a sheltered site. An inspection around Great Missenden checks edge tiles, hips and ridges for movement and missing fixings.

Why do the hip tiles on my roof keep cracking?

Movement, weathered mortar and defective support or fixing can all contribute. A hipped roof has long exposed junctions, so the repair needs more than filling a visible crack. Adam checks the hip assembly and adjacent tiles before explaining the work. The roof's exposure and original construction inform the proposed detail.

Can overhanging trees affect a slate roof?

Branches can rub or strike the covering, and leaves collect in valleys and rainwater outlets. Shade also affects how quickly the surface dries. These are property specific conditions, not a reason to remove every nearby tree. Roof inspection and gutter maintenance identify the actual issue, with any tree work considered separately.
