Your roof in Flitwick

Flitwick grew around its railway station, and most homes here were built from the 1960s onwards for people commuting to London, Luton and Bedford. Estate roofs of that age carry concrete tiles, mortar-bedded ridges and felt that has been on the roof for decades. Adam checks your ridge, verges and eaves felt together, because a slipped ridge tile and a damp loft are often the same fault.

The older part of Flitwick around Church End and the parish church keeps brick cottages and houses with clay tiles, slate and chimney stacks. On these roofs Adam matches the existing tile or slate, checks the lead flashing at every stack and photographs the junctions, so you can see why each repair is in your quote.

Homes near Flitwick Moor and the River Flit sit in low, tree-lined ground where moss builds up on shaded slopes and gutters fill with leaves. Adam removes moss where it is lifting tiles, checks the gutters and downpipes, and tells you plainly whether a clean, a repair or a coating is the right answer. Westoning, Flitton, Greenfield and Ampthill get the same inspection.

Highly recommend Adam and the team. There was a delay starting due to the constant rain, but Adam kept me updated throughout. Once work began they worked through blistering heat over four days to remove old decking and install a beautiful new patio. The team were polite, friendly and professional, and Adam kept me involved with ideas and suggestions to get the best results. The finished patio looks amazing and has completely transformed the garden. Excellent workmanship from starting to finish - would definitely use them again.

Your roofing questions answered

Do you cover Flitwick, Ampthill and Westoning?

Yes. Adam inspects roofs in Flitwick, Ampthill, Westoning, Flitton, Greenfield and Maulden. Give him your postcode and describe the problem. He gets on the roof, photographs what he finds and sends you a written quote with the pictures attached.

Why does my Flitwick loft get damp in winter?

Warm, moist air from the house condenses on the cold underside of the roof when ventilation is blocked, often after extra loft insulation is laid over the eaves. Old felt with no breathable layer adds to it. Adam checks the vents, the felt and the insulation line, then explains the fix in writing.

My ridge tiles keep coming loose. Do I need a new ridge?

Usually the mortar bedding has cracked and washed out. Adam can rebed the ridge or fit a dry ridge system, which fixes each ridge tile mechanically and needs no mortar. He photographs the ridge before and after so you can see the work.

Is moss on my roof worth removing?

Yes, once it starts lifting tile edges and blocking gutters. Moss holds water against the tiles. Adam removes it by hand, treats the slope and checks for broken tiles underneath. If the tiles are sound a coating can follow; if not, he will say so. A coating is not a repair.
